Thanks for the kind words! I am quite happy to report that nearly a year later the beds are not only still standing but just as sturdy as the day they were built! The area under the beds are occupied by various bins filled with their toys and such, and the overall effect has allowed the twins to spread out their lego creations from wall to wall! The beds have been a great success and I'm looking forward to building a canopied/curtained version for my daughter in a year or two.

I'd love to see your designs and completed beds; I think you have some interesting options for a three way and I'm interested to see which way you go with it! Good luck! (I can't even begin to imagine trying to get a waterbed mattress up there!)

Great job, I to am starting a design for a 3 way, since I have a 7,8,& 9 year old boys in one room, I was planing loft beds, found out that you can get military grade 30X74 4" mattress.

Since my boys are really rouph and have broken down a nice set of bunk beds to a pile of fire wood. im using 4x4 or 4x6 as the corner post.

now that my teen Daughter and Son have seen this, they both want loft water beds in each of their rooms. now that will be a problem.. lol

now just got to find what to do with my two baby girls. lol need more house.

how have they held up over the year

Wow! Nicely done! And how much fun with those kids have with a built-in "fort". I can see pirate raids, campouts, and knights in shining armour battling the invaders in their future.

Good job, Dad!

It probably could have been done for less, but I might have made one or two mistakes and needed to go buy replacement lumber! (but only once or twice!) :)

No problem at all, at least we know you're still alive out there... I'm just saying that this would be a great way to contribute to your own blog. You might take a look at using Facebook and Twitter as well. Very complimentary services.
