Spent the afternoon with Faith’s parents to celebrate her father’s birthday (which is actually on the fifth) and then went to Bluebird park to watch the fireworks. We found a really great place to sit just off to the side of the main hill. The live music was a nice way to pass the time while we waited for the display. Just before the fireworks, a young lady came out and sang “God Bless America” and “The Star Spangled Banner”. Not only was this the best these two songs have sounded to me since Kate Smith, but the whole crowd actually sang along! Very moving! After the fireworks we were walking back to the car when the band (Sh-Boom) came back on stage and started into an amazing version of Queen’s “We are the Champions” followed by Dr Hook’s “Cover of the Rolling Stone” So we stayed a bit longer than we should have to enjoy the music, and a good time was had by all!
